Luxurious soft bridal waves: Soft waves and wedding hair go hand in hand. And so it continues into 2022. The updated look would feel at home on the red carpet with a touch of bohemian styling. It was invigorating and inspiring to see runway shows return (almost) to normal, and “fashion moments” were plentiful, playful, and highly shareable, and as such, a few went viral. Chanel’s ’90s supermodel–inspired collection saw endless Instagram posts capturing sashaying models in monochromatic bikinis. Fashion fun was clearly back on the menu, and it was served up for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
One of the most wearable trends to come out of this round of runways was the pleated skirt, and while there was a light scattering of mini incarnations reminiscent of this summer’s favourite tennis skirt, for SS22 it’s all about the pleated midi. Other than that, there really are no rules. Printed, plain, colourful, monochrome, paired with knits or paired with a bralette – as long as it’s pleated then you’re bang on the money. While tights are a mainstay in many winter wardrobes, when it comes to summer very few of us give even a moments thought to dressing our legs. Providing they’re covered in SPF and not overheating, we’re happy. But all that change next season, as thigh high boots with feathered trims, lace leggings and embroidered hosiery take centre stag. This season we explored the ideas of strength and fragility, creative director Nicky Zimmermann said of the brand’s new collection.
