Audition preparation for violin? Pizz: Pizz. is an abreviation for Pizzicato (not pizza;-) and means to pluck the string. A + sign means LEFT HAND Pizzicato. Allegretto: Allegretto is moderately fast. An Allegretto tempo would be slower than allegro, but faster than andante.; Diminuendo: A Diminuendo in sheet music can be abbreviated “dim.” It can also be called a decrescendo (abbreviated decresc. or decr.) This string music terms mean to get softer little by little. This is the opposite of a Crescendo.
Viola: The viola is a little bit bigger then the violin. The viola string instrument is measured by inches no fractions like the violin. The viola is available in 14? – 17.5? but if you need a smaller viola, it is possible to put viola strings on a violin. The viola has four strings which are A, D, G and C.
Violin parts : Tail Piece – The violin tail piece holds the four fine tuners and strings. There are many different types of violin tail pieces. This part of the violin is usually Ebony. Screw – The violin bow adjusting screw is used to tighten and loosen the bow. Keep the bow hairs loose when not being used to play. And only tighten the hairs so that there is a slight tension and the distance between the hairs and the stick in the middle is not wider than at the tip and frog. When holding the violin bow with the tip pointing to your left and the hairs facing the floor, turn the violin bow adjusting scew away from you to tighten the violin bow and toward you to loosen the violin Bow. You can also look directly at the end of the screw and turn righty, tightey, lefty, loosey.
Miss Laura’s lesson plans include customized audio practice aids. Firstly, these can be used during practice or even during a lesson. Miss Laura will record and email short practice recordings after each lesson. You will receive a recording of practice steps, metronome work, or duet parts for play along practice. Therefore, you will have Miss Laura’s help during home practice too, not only in the lesson.
Each student who signs up for one of Miss Laura’s lesson plans will have their very own webpage or practice portal. The practice chart, audio recordings and sheet music will be accessible from the webpage and audio recordings can be submitted to Miss Laura from the page as well. Students can use the practice portal to help with practice and keep everything for their violin lessons in one place. See more details on Suzuki Violin Lessons.
How to change atrings? Remove the old string: First we need to remove the old string. Simply loosen the peg for that string and gently pull the end of the string out of the peg hole. Now the peg can come completely out of the peg box so be careful not to drop it. Remove the end of the string from the tail piece or fine-tuner. It is very important that you only remove one string at a time so that the bridge stays in place. To change all the strings on a violin, start with the A string and move down to D and G, changing the violin E string last since it is the smallest and most sensitive string. Use the same technique for Viola and Cello saving the A for last.
