How did the project of The Source come to be? Tell us about your involvement with it. The Source was originally conceived as a movie franchise. Due to COVID-19, the entertainment industry changed quite a bit in terms of distribution (hopefully temporarily), so I turned it into a TV show. I originally wrote The Source in 2018, and when COVID-19 started, I began to deeply develop all the projects that I thought would be a good fit for this current time in our society. I’m basically the creator, writer (along with others on the team), producer, and lead actor. When the trailer of The Source received over 200 million views, I understood that I was on the right track.

You’ve come from an accounting and marketing background. I’d like to know how you leapt from those professions, and went into to the acting field? Enzo: Let me say this. They are not unrelated. Because the entertainment business is a business. Once you truly understand the dynamics of how the business works –the struggle behind it is building a businesses from scratch. I think I was very blessed because the businesses skills I acquired deeply helped me with my producing and acting career. When you are an actor, you are becoming a product you need to sell. So, the target audience, demographics; it’s a lot of media market strategy. It’s the same thing like trying to sell a new beverage nationwide. The basics are the same. What was your first acting job? Enzo: One of the biggest Italian directors, Carlo Vanzina, decided to cast me for the role of a villain for a TV series in Italy on channel 5. It was like a dream for every actor. I didn’t have to audition. What happened is that my agent in Italy recommended me. They called the assistant director, and they scheduled a meeting with him the following day. He liked me. We spoke a little bit. The director wanted to see me. He looked me in the face and said, ‘I like him. The role is yours.’ This is what I love about auditioning. You speak to the director; he gets a vibe from you if you can play the character, using his imagination. That’s the dream of every actor. You get the chance to feel the person and he understands what you can do and what you cannot. Enzo Zelocchi or the growth of a successful actor and businessman

Who is Enzo Zelocchi and some of his thoughts: You’ve starred in a variety of genres ranging from romance to drama to action films. What’s the most challenging aspect of switching gears to fit each genre? Is there one that is your favorite? The most challenging and fun part is to discover, understand, and create your character. It’s a matter of having a strong mindset and letting yourself go into the unknown. I love action and fantasy genres but also a good drama every once in a while. He opened up about My Little Princess, which he wrote, directed, produced, and starred in. The film earned a glowing review from Digital Journal, and rightfully so. “I gave a piece of my heart in that project,” he admitted. “It was an interesting journey and a very good experience for me. I watched everything through the eye of a young father and I looked at this tragedy of how a family lives through it, which is horrible.” “I put so much hard work and sweat in it. I tried to be very spiritual with it, and I wanted it to be authentic. The message in My Little Princess is love, faith, and family and I wanted to project that. I was very blessed since it earned me a lot of awards. Movies are like miracles, especially when they are successful enough to be seen,” he said.

Which talent did you discover first about yourself, and then what came next? I have had a good instinct for business since I was young. The arts come in second, but I immediately connected with it. I literally merged together with my business skills with acting and that’s how I was able to naturally be an actor and producer at the same time with a deep understanding on both sides. It helped me a lot because the entertainment industry is a business and just being very artistically talented is not enough nowadays. Once you’re in Hollywood, you become a product that needs to sell. Waiting around for your agent to call you while you’re busy at parties is not going to take you far.

The Latino/Hispanic market has been very neglected in my opinion. From a cultural standpoint, strategically, it’s pretty well structured to be inspirational for young people. I’m more about empowering people. That’s what I believe that people who work in entertainment – besides entertaining – should also be role models. Let’s talk about The Source. What is the premise and what is your character? Enzo: That one is more Mad Max meets The Crow. The character, basically, is an alien with a humanoid body. He is there to train and protect the next generation of warriors against space aliens that go from planet to planet to destroy. Since my character’s planet has been destroyed, he and the oracles are hiding on Earth and training these kids. Obviously, they have to find these kids, fight corruption of local politicians. It’s like a post-apocalyptic scenario – obviously more around destroyed cities and travel between parallel dimensions. Discover extra information at Enzo Zelocchi.

Zelocchi defined the word success as “be loved, love and have enough money to live a life that I like to live and not worry about future or tomorrow or anything.” “To have a comfort zone and to be in peace with yourself. Love is the most important but money always helps,” he said. Get to know Enzo Zelocchi and some of his work: Describe the differences you faced while working amidst COVID. It’s definitely an interesting time. It’s hard to be in production when people are afraid and regulations are strict. I just switched strategies and ways to work. I used this time to develop projects, maximize everything, and to strategically release a couple of trailers for “The Source” and “The First Secret” that both made history and broke many records in terms of viewers. A quirky real estate story, where first-time homeowners Tom (Jesse Eisenberg) and Gemma (Imogen Poots) get a lot more than they bargained for, Vivarium is a low-key sci-fi nightmare of the mundane in the vein of early David Cronenberg. Director Lorcan Finnegan’s film also functions as a relationship allegory, where Tom and Gemma find themselves stuck in a trendy neighborhood of cookie-cutter homes where starting a family isn’t just an expectation but something foisted upon them. It isn’t as grisly as something like Shivers, but more affecting in its surreal design and hopelessness. Eisenberg and Poots own the screen as a disintegrating couple coping in distinct ways to their newfound terrarium where they are observed, manipulated, and—perhaps most disturbingly of all—objectively provided for by unseen and undefinable forces. Its 2020 release feels especially fitting as repetition and hopelessness become permanent residents of the couple’s home. Genre elements seep into the film, accelerating in hiccups and starts that are as arresting as the film’s intentionally artificial design. Startling sound dubbing, odd colorizing, and a few genuine “Oh shit” moments make Vivarium a tight, nasty fable that would fit in with the best Twilight Zone episodes.

Some of Hulu’s best original releases include Castle Rock, Harlots, Helstrom, High Fidelity, Little Fires Everywhere, Marvel’s Runaways, The Handmaid’s Tale, and Veronica Mars. Ramy and The Act both won Golden Globe awards. Hulu is also one of our picks for the best video streaming services for celebrating Black art.

Tom Hardy’s gift for hulking intensity and charismatic growling are in full effect in Capone, a fictionalized account of the last year in the life of the legendary American gangster. Trapped in a palatial Florida estate, his mind deteriorating thanks to neurosyphilitic dementia, Al Capone (Hardy) rants, raves, soils himself and freaks out over hallucinatory visions of people, and events, from his past. Writer/director Josh Trank’s film is a subjective affair told largely from Capone’s POV, so that nothing can be trusted and yet everything speaks, symbolically, to the man’s deep-seated ambitions, fears and misgivings. It’s a headfirst dive into delusion, told with free-flowing suspense and absurd comedy, all of which comes to the fore during a late scene in which Capone opens fire on his friends and family with a giant golden tommy gun while wearing a diaper and chomping on a cigar-like carrot. Part Cowardly Lion, part Bugs Bunny, and altogether ferocious even as his sanity frays, Hardy’s Capone is yet another triumph for the star, who ultimately captures his protagonist less through imposing physicality than via his dark, glassy, lost eyes.

The rhythms of Kelly Reichardt’s hardscrabble 19th-century Pacific Northwest frontier drama are idiosyncratic if not inscrutable, which is why you’re unprepared for sudden revelations or flashes of connection. Her focus (after some throat-clearing) is the bond between two criminally endearing men: a mild-mannered baker (John Magaro) and an enterprising Chinese immigrant (Orion Lee), who hatches a plan to squeeze milk every night from the region’s lone bovine (owned by the county’s wealthiest man). The doughnuts they fry up make them gobs of money while leaving them open to mob justice, and you’re torn between elation (take that, rich ass!) and dread. It opens with a line from Blake: “The bird, a nest, the spider, a web, man friendship” — an assertion that home isn’t a place or thing but a connection to someone not you. This haunting movie transports you to another world — and redefines home.
